Ananas Anam launches Piñayarn®

Ananas Anam, one of the BFTT-funded SMEs, is launching Piñayarn®, which offers a 100% plant-based, recyclable, and biodegradable textile solution to the fashion and textiles industry.

Through waste valorisation, Piñayarn® reduces the amount of burnt pineapple leaves, saving up to 6 kg of CO2 emissions from being released into the atmosphere per 1 kg of yarn produced.

The company also produces the Piñatex® material using pineapple leaf fibre waste, a sustainable alternative to the leather used by the fashion, textiles, automotive and interior industries.
