COP26 / Climate Emergency Network

Dr Kate Goldsworthy and Professor Dilys William participated in the Climate Emergency Network Roundtable – in response to the COP26 UN Climate Change Conference. Kate is BFTT’s Deputy Director and Co-Investigator of Challenge 5 – Circular Materials, while Dilys is Co-Investigator of Challenge 3 – ReModelling Fashion: design practices and business models for sustainability.

Other panel members included Professor Jeremy Till, Head of Central Saint Martins and Pro-Vice-Chancellor, UAL; Leonie Bell, Director of V&A Dundee; Tamara Cincik, Founder and CEO of Fashion Roundtable; and Cat Drew, Chief Design Officer, Design Council.

The panel discussed the contribution of the Arts to Culture as the fourth pillar of sustainable development and its relationship to economic viability, environmental protection and social equity.

By responding to the question, ‘What has culture got to do with Climate Justice?’, contributors shared ideas and experiences relating to creative education, advocacy, activism and citizen participation and roles of artists and designers in the field.
