Ananas Anam wins Innovation of the Year Award

Ananas Anam, one of the BFTT-funded SMEs that invented Piñatex^® – a sustainable vegan alternative to leather made using pineapple leaf fibres won the Innovation of the Year Award.

The 16 finalists and 6 winners in the UAL Knowledge Exchange Staff Awards 2022 were announced by Professor David Mba, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Research, Knowledge Exchange and Enterprise.

Ananas Anam, Circular and Sustainable by Design: was a collaboration between the Centre for Circular Design and Ananas Annam to develop a new climate-friendly, biodegradable material from pineapple leaf fibres.
