Ananas Anam at the Lineapelle

One of the BFTT-funded SMEs, Ananas Anam, presented at the Lineapelle – an international exhibition of leather, accessories, components, fabrics, and synthetics. Ananas Anam is the company that invented the plant-based Piñatex®, a vegan textile made from pineapple leaf fibre waste.

More recently, Ananas Anam researched and developed Piñayarn for use in the fashion and textiles industry; the natural fibres are extracted and blended with other plant-based fibres into yarns. The spinning technology used to create Piñayarn uses no water and zero harmful chemicals, making a naturally breathable and biodegradable yarn with a low environmental impact.
